Here's some more of your letters mates! |
Dear Steve, I remember reading Action as a nine-year-old in Ireland. Action was new and amazingly violent but for some reason I can never remember my parents banning it. What was life changing in there was the game Magnum Force, which was the first real board game outside the mainstream that I played and kept me fascinated with board games all my life. My nephew has talked to me recently about this game and it's great that your site is there to store these precious pieces of media. Well done. Victor Gannon
Steve says: Happy to help. Don't forget to download the game and make yourself a new one!
Dear Steve, I recently obtained a copy of Martin Barker's book. How did I feel upon reading it? Thrilled to see some of my favourite characters again, but also very angry. Angry to see that after all these years how we were robbed. I was too young back in 1976 to notice how my fave comic had been butchered, I was just so thrilled to see it back. Seeing how butchered Death Game 1999 and Hook Jaw were in the 'new' Action brought up such feelings of anger, I couldn't believe it. Neither story made any sense. How did we allow ourselves to be conned so? Thank you for bringing a part of my childhood back; a part that I thought was gone forever. Its just so sad how we were cheated. Paul
Steve says: Yep, have to agree with you there. I'm gutted that I'll never see the rest of Death Game 1999, even if I know how it was meant to end. The same for Hook Jaw, Kids Rule, Probationer etc. The lost Dredger stories were eventually edited and printed, but what about the proper ending to Hell's Highway, or the price on Hellman's head? Betrayed, disappointed and totally let down.
Dear Steve, At last, a dedicated website for Action! Well done on a great site. I'm in my mid-thirties and never forgot the day I discovered Action. I'm currently trying to get all the Action issues via eBay and your site is a great reference guide. I would love to see Hook Jaw and Hellman in particular reprinted one day as Charley's War and Darkies Mob have been by Rebellion. Kieron
Steve says: Thanks Kieron, glad you like what's here. I agree that Rebellion should have a look at some reprints, but I reckon Death Game 1999 would be best for the Meg. Hook Jaw will be released by Spitfire Comics in 2006. Any thoughts from anyone else?
