There's not much that remains from the original artwork for Action. A few pieces appear on occasion, rumour has it that Martin Barker has some, and there's a small amount in private collections. Much of it was once stored in the IPC archive, but both IPC and Fleetway have scant regard for their own history it seems, as much of their back catalogue of many a British comics institution has been cast aside into skips and dustbins to make more office space. Frankly it's a crime. What does survive of the archive material has been neglected, and would have been better going to collectors who would have treasured it and kept it in pristine condition. The cover of issue 1 was sold on ebay in December 2006 for nearly £450. In March 2007 a page of Blackjack raised over £40. During August and September 2007, Hook Jaw, Death Game 1999 and Look out for Lefty! pages were selling for over £200 each.

Rufus Dayglo saved many pages from a skip outside the old IPC offices a while back, and sent me photos of some of his finds. I've also added some of the lost covers, which have been re-coloured to show them in a manner that would be closer to the printed version, were they to have seen print. Artists have been credited where known. The Dredger image from the cover of issue 2 is by Carlos Ezquerra. The November 6th montage features images by Mike Dorey, Mike White and Horacio Altuna. The Hook Jaw part of the 11th December issue is by John Stokes.
