++ Latest Updates ++

Welcome mates, to the Sevenpenny Nightmare. The site has undergone a long-due overhaul, with some major changes to the style and content. Sections have expanded, reorganised, and removed, with content placed elsewhere. We call it 'editorial reconsideration'! The example strips have gone, replaced by the Whole Story versions as they are now complete. Content from Action - The Story of a Violent Comic has been expanded to include features on each of the strips reproduced in the book. Scanning has wrapped up on The Complete Nightmare, issues 1 to 36 and the 1976 Summer Special are online. These scans replace the lower quality ones that were used in The Whole Story, and you'll notice the difference. Unfortunately, from issue 21 onwards, Action was published in Letterpress format, using less colour, on low-quality paper, and despite our best efforts, this is reflected in the quality of the scans. The new Complete Nightmare section contains all the issue breakdowns and information from the old Issues section. We've added the first issue of Bullet, and the first post-ban issue to the History section, plus all the pages we could gather from the 'lost' issue. Hopefully the remaining pages will be with us soon.

Now our revisions are complete, we're pressing on with more new content. We've started work on an overview of the Post-ban era, which is nearing completion. The first pages and some example strips are already available. There's also a feature on why we never got to see the Perfect Issue. Look out for a guide to the creators of Action, and the legacy of Action, coming soon.

In other news, the BBC were in contact for a three-part documentary series they were preparing for BBC 4. Comics Britannia aired during September and we'll probably add a small amount of video to the site soon.

Remember you can 'Write Away' to , sign the Guestbook or enter a Reader Profile. Any artwork will be gratefully received and added to the Action Art section. You may win a prize. Don't forget to visit out other sites, www.100bullets.co.uk, www.falconsquadron.co.uk and www.watchthestars.co.uk, charting 100 Bullets, Johnny Red and Starlord respectively. The Best of Battle site at www.bestofbattle.co.uk is also available.

See Ya!!
